Stephen Curry Womens Jersey

HOUSTON — Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry(Stephen Curry Jersey) expects to play in Game 4 against the Houston Rockets on Sunday after missing Games 2 and 3 with a sprained right ankle.

Curry said he wanted to play in Golden State’s 97-96 loss to Houston on Thursday, but coach Steve Kerr had said “it wasn’t worth the risk.”

“It was their call,” Curry said Friday of the team’s decision. “If I would have got the green light I definitely would have played and felt confident there. Hopefully that leads to even more confidence come Sunday.”

Asked whether he would be surprised if the team sits him again Sunday, Curry responded, “Very.”

The Warriors lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. Game 4 will be in Houston.

On Friday, Curry played in 3-on-3 games, a way the Warriors maintain conditioning for bench players while also building the stamina of stars coming off injury.

“It’s a good session,” Curry said. “Played a couple games. Got some rhythm, got through it.”

Curry reported being “pretty close” to pain-free, but noted he was rusty in full-speed drills. When asked to assess his explosion and change of direction, Curry replied, “Awful.”

Added Kerr: “Steph looked good. Played 3-on-3. He had a pretty good shooting workout afterward, reported no pain. Seemed to be moving well. All that’s good news.”

On Saturday, the plan will be to bring Curry back into a full run.

“Hopefully tomorrow, without any repercussions, we’ll just put him through the whole practice and get him another day of rhythm,” Kerr said.

Curry admitted he and the coaching/athletic staff have different opinions on his playing status when it comes to the injury.

“I’m sure coach and the athletic training staff are on similar wavelengths of being more on the precautious side, obviously,” Curry said. “I’ve been pretty honest about just how I feel, making sure I don’t do anything to damage my ankle even further, put myself in a bad position. … We want to get a proper feedback and not hide things.

“I think I could play through a little bit of discomfort and whatnot, especially in a playoff kind of situation. They have kind of the thought if there is any ounce of instability or doubt, to be on the more cautious side.”

Kerr was noncommittal on a potential minutes restriction when Curry returns, saying, “There might be one that we impose based on conditioning, but we’ll see.”

One thing Curry won’t have Sunday: a suit.

Since he was expecting to play, he didn’t bring one on the road trip, and as a result, he wasn’t allowed on the bench for Thursday’s Game 3. Asked Friday if he’d go buy a suit in case he doesn’t play Sunday, Curry said: “I will not be going to any suit store.”

Authentic Kobe Bryant Jersey

DALLAS — Kobe Bryant(Kobe Bryant Jersey) almost became a member of the Dallas Mavericks, according to owner Mark Cuban.

On the final night of Bryant’s career, Cuban revealed that he thought he had agreed on a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2007 offseason, when Bryant had demanded a trade.

“I could have sworn that we had a deal done for Josh Howard and Jet,” said Cuban, referring to Jason Terry.

Cuban said the Mavs also would have parted with draft picks and taken back at least one contract the Lakers were looking to dump.

“I was telling all the stagehands at ‘Dancing With the Stars’ it was done,” said Cuban, who was part of the show’s celebrity cast in 2007. “Then Mitch [Kupchak] or Jerry Buss or whoever talked him out of it.”

The Mavs went to the 2006 Finals and won 67 games in 2006-07 before being upset by the Golden State Warriors in the first round. A deal for Bryant would have paired him with Dirk Nowitzki, putting two of the top six scorers of all-time together during their prime.

“It would have been different,” Cuban said. “That’s all I can say. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.”

Bryant said on the “Grantland Basketball Hour” last year that “Chicago was my No. 1 choice” when he wanted to be traded. He added that he vetoed a deal that would have sent him to the Detroit Pistons for Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and draft picks.

“I gave you a list of teams I would be comfortable being traded to,” Bryant said on the show. “Not Detroit.”

Bryant did not mention the Mavs while reminiscing about trade possibilities.

Cuban recalled discussing potential Bryant deals with Nowitzki, who was the reigning MVP at the time. Cuban considered Nowitzki the only Mavs asset that was off limits in trade talks.

“I do remember Dirk coming to me and saying, ‘Look, if you can trade me for Kobe, you’ve gotta do it,’” Cuban said. “I was like, ‘Dirty, that’s not gonna happen.’”

Authentic LeBron James Jersey

INDIANAPOLIS — LeBron James(LeBron James Jersey) will sit out the Cleveland Cavaliers’ game against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday for rest, the team announced several hours before tipoff.

“It’s just the right time,” Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said. “The training staff said it was the right game to do it on the back-to-back. We want to be cautious, so that’s what they said.”

Cleveland played in Milwaukee on Tuesday, with James putting up 17 points, nine assists and five rebounds in 28 minutes before sitting out the entire fourth quarter of a 109-80 rout over the Bucks.

James, fresh off receiving the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors for March when he averaged 25.6 points on 53.8 percent shooting, 8.2 rebounds and 7.1 assists, has repeatedly said in recent weeks just how good his body is feeling compared with this time a year ago.

Nevertheless, with one week and four games remaining in the regular season, the Cavs figure it is more beneficial to give the 13-year veteran a night off with the playoffs approaching.

Lue said James was nearing the “red zone” distinction the Cavs’ training staff assigns to players who are reaching exhaustion from overexertion.

“When a guy logs so many minutes, they have a red, yellow and green zone to kind of tell you where their body is at and how much of a load they’ve carried over the course and duration over the last week or two,” Lue said.

The Cavs are 1-3 this season and 4-13 the past two seasons in games James sits out.

The Cavs came into the Pacers game riding a four-game winning streak. Lue was confident that Cleveland can keep up its momentum without James.

“I think we’re up for the challenge,” Lue said. “I think the players are up for the challenge. We’ve been playing great basketball. This will be a good game for us and a good test for us, but I think our guys are up for the challenge.”

It remains to be seen whether resting James against Indiana has an impact on the playoff race in the East. Cleveland is 3-0 against the Pacers this season with James. The Cavs came into the night with a 3? game lead over Toronto for first place, with the Pacers a half game up on the Pistons for seventh place. Detroit is 2-1 against the Cavs this season. If the Pistons catch the Pacers for the No. 7 spot, Cleveland could feasibly have a more favorable first round opponent in Indiana.

“Yes, we definitely thought about that,” Lue said when asked if James’ rest could affect the playoff standings. “The medical staff said on a back-to-back, it’s just being cautious right now and that’s what we have to do.”

Lue was then asked if James fought Lue on his decision to hold him out. “Fight me? I’d say, ‘Play,’” Lue said with a laugh. “He didn’t fight me. He’d probably have to fight the medical staff. So, whatever.”

Keeping James out against Indiana will give him three full days rest before the Cavs play the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday to finish out their three-game road trip. Cleveland closes the regular season with home games against Atlanta on Monday and Detroit on Wednesday.
